This works out to approximately 13 weekend training programs. 70% of these hours must be taken through Breathing Space Yoga Studios.
PRACTICUM……………………………………………………………………………………20 hours
These hours may include practice teaching, receiving verbal and written feedback, observing others teaching, or hearing and giving feedback. This may also include assisting students while another certified teacher is teaching.
MENTORING……………………………………………………………………………………6 hours
This time would be spent providing feedback and discussion on your teaching as well as your final project. This provides an opportunity to work with a senior yoga instructor to receive feedback and teachings from their extensive experience. A Breathing Space mentor can be assigned, or you can select an appropriate mentor of your choice.
FINAL PROJECT………………………………………………………………………………..92 hours
This final project is designed for you to have a specialization in a specific area of your choice. It is encouraged that several of your training hours augment your final project. These hours of work towards your final project will include activities such as: additional reading, research, writing and developing your report and student classes that demonstrate your expertise in the given area of your concentration. You need to get approval of the area of your choice before starting. The report length is up to the individual but should be no less than 20 pages and can extend to the point where you sufficiently feel competent in your area of specialization. This final report should take the form of a research paper and include at least 4 lesson plans.
TOTAL…………….……………………………………………………………………………300 hours
Additional Criteria
Every attempt will be made to provide input throughout the program that might impede certification. BSYS will use the following criteria to establish student eligibility for certification:
1) Attendance
We encourage 100% attendance at all sessions. If sessions, or hours at sessions, are missed, it is understood that students must make up these hours at a comparable, and approved, YTT training. Any costs incurred for these makeup hours will be at the student’s own expense.
2) Fees (all fees are plus tax)
All program fees must be paid in full prior to receiving certification. All fees for individual courses are as outlined on our website.
3) Professional Behavior and Ethical Conduct
All students in the program are required to behave in an ethical manner to help create safety while maintaining a professional atmosphere.
4) Breathing Space Yoga Studio Core Values
All graduates are expected to demonstrate the Breathing Space core values: Growth, authenticity, creativity, joy, excellence, gratitude, discipline and respect.
